I am Homan, an exhibition of fire painting by Peter Homan

Launch 6pm, Thursday 9th June 2016
The Copper House
off Synge Street, Dublin 8

The Copper House will launch I am Homan, an exhibition of fire painting by Peter Homan, at 6pm, Thursday 9th June 2016.

Homan - Artist's fire paintings are inspired by shards of light and hope, reflecting the artists struggle with chronic pain. These inspirations stem from the solace and escape from pain found in the wildness of Killamuck Bog, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, Ireland where he visits regularly.

Using Oil and Fire on canvas, this exhibition shows a magnetism towards colour, texture and the exoneration of his frustrations with chronic pain thus giving the subject matter it's powerful abstract expressionism characteristic values. This encapsulates the voyeuristic parallels of the observed world's leading to utterly breathtaking finished pieces.

Peter Homan's art is created from a world of contradictions and experimentation. He was born in Dublin, Ireland and has spent all his life living in that urban environment, but his art has consistently been influenced by the natural world beyond the city limits. He received a Degree in Fine Art in DLAIDT in 2004, but despite this, he considers himself to be, largely, a self-taught artist.

Opening Times:
Launch - Thursday 9th June from 6pm - 8pm
Continues until 24th June, weekdays 10am - 5pm
